About Minerva

Minerva signifies a GenAI conversation tool, fabricated for the GEP community. The updated Minerva GenAI is a refined transformation of the antiquated Minerva Plus (Old AI Chatbot). It is an aide engineered to enhance and smoothen supply chain functionalities.

Role and Responsibilities

IC UX designer who worked on this project end-to-end.

Conducted user interviews and usability testing to gather insights into workflows, challenges, and needs.

Defined the design approach for creating a responsive and accessible interface across devices.

Worked closely with product managers, developers, and data scientists to align design solutions with technical constraints and business objectives.

Designed adaptable components that maintained usability across touch, mouse, and keyboard inputs.

Balanced the need for simplicity with the complexity of supply chain operations, ensuring the design added value at every interaction.

Problem Statement

In the world of digital solutions, one of our biggest hurdles is determining the appropriate interface to deliver to our users at the correct moment. Regardless of whether they are interacting with an AI Assistant via a smartphone or 4K display, using gestures or mouse input, on state-of-the-art equipment, it lies on us to ensure our products are universally accessible. There isn’t a singular design strategy that can satisfy every requirement.

Discover

This stage encompasses finding out about ChatGPT and understanding Minerva Chatbot.

Explorations
  • Users wants a fast response, but the AI model needs bit more time to reason, run code interpreter, and generate a proper response.

  • I explored multiple ways we can showcase table data and other components to communicate with the user that the AI is "thinking".

  • After reviewing the concepts with multiple stakeholders, we narrowed the design down to a spinner animation transitioning to a loader. This was also a triggering point to view code that the AI has generated to create the response to the prompt.

I created component and integrated into Design library to fit according to the created persona and need of the interface.

Review

I examined a variety of user interface elements that could deliver the outcomes we sought. After vetting by the design team, these were fine-tuned to align with Minerva's branding and user experience guidelines. This endeavour also allowed me to enhance our stance on ethical AI by bolstering transparency, particularly for our technically proficient audience namely, the developer community at GEP.
